I tracked down the son of the last trustee of the Stoke Ville Building Society, Mr M Hollis!

To cut along story short and to let you in to a secret that the Internet is not always what you need, sometimes the local phone book will do (if you know what you're looking for)!

After much searching for names of former trustees, various archives for documents or references to The Villas and Stokeville, I came across a deceased estate notice in the London Gazette with M F R C Hollis named as an interested party. Breakthrough, A Mr M F R C Hollis was listed as a partner in some of the solicitors letters in the documents, and the London Gazette listed his address (2006) as being a small town not far from Stoke. So I checked the phone book and he was the only M F R C Hollis listed, should I have checked the white pages first?

Mr Hollis came to visit on the 22nd of July, he had wanted to visit The Villas for some time as he had lived here as a child. Some neighbors called in too and we learned a few new things about the trustees. We were also gifted a deed box with documents dating back to the start of the society.

The first of these documents, The "Surrender & Admittance" of the land that The Villas are built upon is in the documents section.
